How to make a good portfolio on Truelancer

May 2, 2016 by Jessee R

To reach the right places in your career and fulfill your goals you have to keep working on your presentation skills.

The way you present yourself and your work is of great importance even in the freelancing world.

As a platform, Truelancer provides numerous tools and techniques to make your presentation of work better, more professional and attractive. One such tool is the Portfolio.

You can reach it by clicking on the dashboard option as shown

You will redirected to your dashboard where you find the portfolio option as shown

Once you click on it you get here

You can see the add portfolio icon at the top right. When you click on it, then your work begins.

Here is how you can make a good portfolio

Here is a rough overview

And moving on to the bottom part

Here are some pointers to make the portfolio rock solid

  1. Title : Precise and Brisk

A long title distracts the reader and gives him the impression that what follows will be boring.

Keep your title short and to the point. You can expand later in the description section.

  1. Don’t make the description to long

A very long description is annoying, boring and irritating with the end result being the employer or visitor completely losing interest in you.

Be short, exact and concise. A good method is to use points or bullet heads when describing the work you have done.

  1. Use attachments efficiently

Attach good and formatted samples of your work. This helps the employer to know you and your skills better.

Don’t attach samples which are unrelated to work. This rings a bell for unprofessionalism which will not benefit your cause.

  1. Mention specific skills

In one portfolio, mention only the skills which were involved. Do not go on mentioning all the skills you have.

These skills are used for categorization and back end optimizations which help make you more search-friendly.

Adding too many of them will create confusion and produce no beneficial result.

  1. Add good tags

Tags are keywords related to your work which help any user on the internet looking for someone with your skills find you more easily.

Using the right tags can be very beneficial for you.

Make work –specific tags like “content promotion” or “content creation” instead of just “content”.

Be more searchable and attract more traffic.

A good presentation is always appreciated and attracts more prospective work towards you as people see inherent professional qualities in you like leadership, high performance quotient and credibility.

So make sure when someone comes to your profile he is not disappointed. Keep freelancing.
