I was starting my freelancing journey from many years in “year” My desire to work on something new and challenging and that my vision forces me to quit my job and landed up the freelancing work. I like to say as being a freelancer, I believe it gives you a lot of freedom and money but at the same time it comes with the lot of responsibility also you have to be hard-working which is very important.

1. Patience:
You are not going to start freelancing and then become an instant success overnight. (Well, you could become an instant success overnight, but in my experience, it generally takes about 3-4 months of hard work and putting yourself out there to land and start to get established)

2. People Skills:

You can be the best person at your skill ever, but if you are not customer/client oriented or lack in communication skills, it will be harder for you to be successful in the freelance market. Remember COMMUNICATION is key. It doesn’t matter if you are writing content, designing a website, designing a banner, or running a radio show, you NEED to communicate regularly with your customers/clients and keep them in the loop on everything. Develop a rapport with them, make sure they are up to speed on the project, and know of any setbacks that could affect the outcome as well as how you plan to overcome them.

3. Develop your online presence:

Make sure that you not only have a complete profile on the freelancer platform you are using (if you are using one) but that you also have the following: Your Own Website and Attractive Social Profiles etc…

4. Don’t bite off more than you can chew:

Some people make the mistake of taking on projects they are not qualified for, or that they do not have time for. This only sullies your reputation if you happen to drop the ball on one or more of your projects.

5. Be YOURSELF:

This is the most important one. Always be true to yourself, and if that means saying “no” to a client on something, say no. It’s the hardest thing to do, but the sooner you learn it, the sooner you will be able to keep everything in check and running smoothly on all of your contracts.
