Tell us about yourself.
My name is Aayush and I have always been a freelance Software Developer. I am an R & D engineer with around 3 years of experience in the industry. I am an objectivist and this quote by Ayn Rand sums up my ideologic centre point.
“the only thing that matters my goal my reward my beginning my end is the work itself. My work done my way. A private personal selfish egotistical motivation. That’s the only way I function. That’s all I am”
How To Become a Software Engineer in 2018
Why and when did you start freelancing?
I am completely given to my need to take on challenging tasks and develop myself through them. Freelancing is an outlet to the same. I have done tasks ranging from web development to automation to cryptography to network administration and now to the blockchain. My idea for myself is a complex problem solver. Development, DevOps, System Architecture can be an outlying category or a tool/mechanism to solve the problem in hand. My design decision is to see them as a tool and adapt, improvise and learn to give the most effective solution according to the client’s needs, instead of categorizing myself under one of IT sub-labels and claim others to be out of my personal scope. This has been my mission statement so far and freelancing fits right with it. And as I realized this I started freelancing as a Software Developer.

What do you like about being a freelancer?
Everything about it. period. but what tops the chart for me is the freedom to choose what I want to work on.
What are the challenges you have found in your freelancing career?
Freelancing came very smoothly to me as I was into technology from a very early age and literature was one of my earlier interests so writing effective proposals and completing tasks came naturally to me. I thought struggled with organization and self-discipline which caused delays in deliveries. As a single person service provider, you are responsible for the complete lifecycle of the project i.e, from writing the proposal, getting the requirements right, dividing the complete scope into smaller tasks, working the tasks etc. I only understood the relevance of planification after I missed a couple of deadlines. tools like scrum, bitrix are as important for freelancers as they are for a development team.
What according to you does it take to be a successful freelancer?
- strong fundamentals in the chosen skill
- willingness to learn
- good communication
- adaptability
- planning

What do you think about working on Truelancer?
It has been far better than working on any other freelancer platform available. The support doesn’t treat freelancers as mere vendors in the marketplace. There is a wide variety of projects and the platform always recommends the most relevant bid which is great for both the employer as well the freelancer.
What do you like doing when you are not “Freelancing”?
I like to read. Sometimes I write opinion pieces about government policies around technology for alternative media outlets, sometimes I play air guitar on “Megadeths” “symphony of destruction “ head banging to the drum beats .
