Tell us about yourself.
I have a degree in Engineering and spend more than ten years working in the Electronics Manufacturing Industry. I managed men and women in the Quality Assurance department to ensure that the quality policy of the company well adheres in every aspect – product, process, and workers. For many years, it was by teamwork that success becomes like a piece of cake, and I have been a team player throughout my career. I’ve been to training and seminars so I can execute my duties well in failure analysis, document control, technical reporting, 8D process, and more. At work, I paid attention to details, and my approach to making decisions is always forward-looking. I loved reading and writing, hobbies that I maintained since my childhood. Other people find me intimidating because I speak less, but deep inside, I cared about others more than myself. I am a very family-oriented person and would set aside anything when it comes to family matters.
Why and when did you start freelancing?
My freelancing career is still very young, less than six months, and I am thankful that my first freelancing is with Truelancer. In previous years, my friends encouraged me to join their freelance platform, but I was sceptical at that time in taking online jobs. But when life-threatening issues started to mess with my family, I know that freelancing is worth a try to help raise funds. Early this year, my beloved Aunt got diagnosed from stage 3 breast cancer, and the cost of the treatment is prohibitive. Somehow, the income that I receive in accepting online jobs in my spare time is helping her to get a better to survive her ordeals.

What do you like about being a freelancer?
As a freelancer, I have overall control of the job – before and during an assignment. It means that I can choose what project to engage, and after getting the job, I can decide how and when I should start working on it to the criteria of the employer. Also, it was a less stressful and less complicated job, because I can work on it within my comfort zone, and there are only two persons involved in the process – employer and freelancer.

What are the challenges you have found in your freelancing career?
So far, it was time management. At the start, it was difficult to juggle many priorities because I also treat my freelancing career like my full-time job. Even when I have to do freelance in my spare time, I maintained my work standard of producing output at the best quality possible within the deadline. It means that I should continuously learn and improve my skills, so I don’t compromise the quality while increasing my productivity daily.
What according to you does it take to be a successful freelancer?
To be a successful freelancer, one should have self-discipline, commitment, skills, and hard work. You need to earn the trust of the employer so that you can establish a better freelancing career. Without those characters I mentioned earlier, it will be a rough ride in your journey to accomplish the task entrusted to you by someone you met only online.
