Part Time Jobs in Indonesia, How to Get Started
If you had read some of my previous posts, the recent one would be Jobs in Indonesia, Freelancing is the Way to Go, or if you are an Indonesian youth yourself, you must have been familiar on how common unemployment among Indonesian youths nowadays. Unlike some countries, like South Korea for example, part time jobs in Indonesia is a bit hard to be found. Many part time jobs in Indonesia mostly involve store-keeping, or working as waiter or waitress in a restaurant. With your skill and education background, you may feel such jobs don’t help you to grow as an individual or help you with your future career.
As a student myself, I have learned the hard way that finding part time jobs in Indonesia is actually more difficult than finding a full time job. However, although I enjoy working, I and probably many others, feel that working from 9 to 5 doesn’t allow you to enjoy yourself, and make the most out of your teenage years. Working full time also has its perks, you may have to work harder than your seniors, and your piling tasks may rob sleep out of you.
Does this mean it’s impossible to find a part time job in Indonesia that utilizes your skills, your knowledge, or your talent? Far from it. Many young ones overlook this basic fact : that you can work as a freelancer, not only here in Indonesia, but also with people all over the globe. “But how is it possible?”, you may ask. Until few month ago, I felt the same way. Freelancing was a foreign concept to me, and probably to most Indonesians as well. Ever since we were in high school, finding a stable, full-time job has always been emphasized. Magazines promote websites that will help you find a full-time job online, but no mention of freelancing websites has ever been made.
But why? Freelancing, just like another part time job, is a perfect method to build your resume in the long run, to earn money, and to expand your knowledge and working experience. Parents, students, retirees; all those whose situation allows them to work part time have benefit greatly from freelancing. You don’t even have to leave your house, stuck in the traffic, or wake up early in the morning to work. You can attend college in the morning, work later in the evening, or adjust your own schedule. You can even take breaks from working once you feel overwhelmed by exams or other responsibilities. You can even work when travelling, or when you hang out with your friends.
Freelancing is a profiting part time job, but only if you know how to do it right. Many have been scammed while freelancing because they didn’t work under websites such as Truelancer, where you and your client are protected. Truelancer also allows you to be connected with clients all over the globe; as long as you meet the requirements. Starting part time job is not as difficult or complicated as you think it might be. Once you sign up in Truelancer, you can start sending proposals to prospective clients according to your skills and achievements. Join me and over 3900 Indonesian freelancers in this global community of trusted freelancers!
