I started freelancing in 2018 when I was in college. At that time, I wanted to do something that interested me and best suited my personality. I developed an interest in writing marketing materials and other content back then, and that’s how I decided to be a freelance writer. I always wanted to work on my own, and YouTube was the major contributor that helped me fuel this inner desire in freelancing to step into the field of the freelancing market.
2. What do you like the most about Writing?
Free flow is what I like the most about freelance writing. It’s through writing I love to express myself. And of course, writing is one of the major mediums through which companies can effectively market their products and services. I believe that content is going nowhere, and it’s a trustworthy source of marketing.
3. What are the most important skills required as a freelance writer?
In my opinion, the most essential skills to become a freelance writer can be as follows:
- An eye to look into details.
- Ability to describe the importance of what they’re writing about.
- A good reader.
- A good listener.
- Ability to handle criticisms
If you master these skills, no one can stop you growing as a successful freelance writer.
4. What challenges have you come across in your freelancing career?
Honestly, freelancing has never been a smooth journey for me! It was a roller-coaster ride, especially in the beginning when I was trying to learn how things work and what type of work is demanded by the clients. The major challenge that came with freelancing was the ability to handle clients. Like, in the beginning, most of my time went into understanding their requirements, and clashes happened. Misunderstandings the requirements was one of the challenges I struggled with, but now I’m aware of how to handle the projects and criticisms accordingly.
