Tell us about yourself.

 

Hello everyone. My name is Rahul Rakesh and I hail from Patna, the capital of Bihar. I have engineering, actuarial and management backgrounds but writing is my passion and so I tend to utilize my free time by writing as much as I can for myself and for my trusted clients.

I am 24 years old and a strong believer in the idea of complete independence of thought and free will. I have been blogging for more than 2 years writing about almost anything which comes to my mind from fiction and poetry to essays to global issues.

In a nutshell, I am rebel belonging to a well-educated Indian middle class family with dreams bigger than the size of mountains!

 

Why and when did you start freelancing?

 

I started freelancing last year in August when I began to scour for work across the internet.

 

What do you like about being a freelancer?

Oh! There are numerous things which I like about freelancing.

  • You’re your own boss
  • You don’t have to follow a fixed routine (for me that is kind of a big deal)
  • You can build a strong network, much larger than that on a job
  • You have a chance to do what you really love doing and get paid for that
  • You don’t have to wake up early (especially for me!!)
  • There is no authoritarian framework of rules and regulations to hold you back
  • Finally, It’s a wonderful adventure!

What are the challenges you have found in your freelancing career?

 

Finding work at the start can be really tough. This is because no one knows you and your talent at that point of time. You have to pitch your capabilities in the vainest of fashions to get noticed.

But once you start working and building a network, work will gradually come to you. Persistence is the key in the arena of freelancing. If you want success in a day then you better find something else.

Convincing the first clients is a difficult task but ultimately when you deliver high quality work, you will get noticed immediately.

 

What according to you does it take to be a successful freelancer?

 

There are various skills which are involved in the making of a successful freelancer

  • Highly skilled at his mentioned expertise
  • Extreme Patience and Perseverance
  • Excellent communication and sales skills
  • Good at networking
  • Politeness and humility
  • Punctuality ( Because deadlines need to be followed like religion)
  • Adaptability – To quickly understand changing requirements

Being a freelancer is not an easy job!

 

How did you get to know about Truelancer?

 

I was just searching the internet for freelancing websites when I found Truelancer and I liked it.

 

What do you think about working on Truelancer?

 

Working on Truelancer has been a great experience. I have come to know numerous skilled and professional people whom I did not know before. I am earning and paying my bills so that is one less thing to worry about. I personally think Truelancer is the best freelancing website I have laid my hands on.

How is your experience being associated with Truelancer as a ‘freelancer’?

 

The experience has been a joy-ride. As said earlier the best thing is that the network I have established is prominent and kind of makes me feel more secure than any job environment. There is steady stream of income which is slowly increasing. The payment methods are lucid, transparent and incredibly quick.

All in all, Truelancer is one of the best online experiences I have had.

 

What do you like doing when you are not “Freelancing”?

 

Oh! I do a lot of stuff. I write more for my personal collections (Also! So that I can publish a book someday!), I watch a lot of Hollywood movies and TV series like The Big Bang Theory and yeah I am occasional party animal too! Ha-ha!
